Background: After qualifying from the University of Greenwich in London with a Bachelor of Education (BEd) honours degree, Steve began his teaching career in mainstream secondary education in South East London moving to Reading and then Swindon. Whilst Steve’s passion and leadership roles have been focussed around inclusion and pastoral responsibilities, Steve has also led curriculum teams. Steve has held senior leadership posts in mainstream secondary schools for 21 years during which time he was seconded to an Associate Headteacher post at an EOTAS provision before taking on a headship in a hospital school in September 2018. Steve holds the National Professional Qualification for Headship.

OHS provides education to children at The Oxford Children’s Hospital (an 84 bedded acute hospital), Helen House Hospice (an eight bed hospice providing respite and end of life care for children with life limiting and life shortening conditions), the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre (an outpatient unit for the management of chronic pain and support of children undergoing intensive neuro-rehabilitation) and Highfield Unit (tier 4 tertiary referral inpatient adolescent psychiatric unit with 18 beds plus 2 high dependency beds – age range: 11-18).
